David Cobb knows what it takes to make things happen: in 2004, when John Kerry wouldn't challenge the Ohio results, he did. When the Green Party chose their Presidential candidate that year, they knew they could do no better than him. Now that the very foundations of American electoral integrity have been targetted for destruction by the Supreme Court's horrid decision in Citizens United vs. FEC, who else would you expect to be at the vanguard to fight for us, the people? You're damned right, it's David Cobb - and he joins us for this episode of TMI to tell us how we can join together to fight back against the corporate takeover of our elections. We discuss MoveToAmend.org, the site where YOU can sign the motion to amend the Constitution to "firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights". Do it now, as you listen to why this is the most significant decision...

There is a complete misunderstanding about how to read polls that track how people who declare themselves "Republicans", "Democrats" and "Independents" vote, and this misconception strongly favors the GOP. Here's the problem:
If a pollster asks someone what party they affiliate themselves with, generally, there will be three big answers: Republican, Democratic, or Independent. I'm counting Green, Libertarian and the like out here, as most polls don't even report those answers. So, what do these answers mean?
If I say I'm a Republican, it means that I am willing to tell a complete stranger that I am mostly or completely comfortable with what the GOP stands for and is pushing for (or against). The same applies if I answer Democratic. But how many Liberal and Progressive people are willing to verbally ally themselves with Democrats right now?
That leaves us too-Liberal-or-Progressive-to-call-ourselves-Democratic folks to answer "Independent", and over the past year, more and more of us have...

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. more than earned his national holiday - and it was by believing that YOU were worth fighting for. How do I know, when I don't know you? Because THAt didn't matter to Dr. King. We explore one of his lesser-known speeches to show you an MLK you probably don't know - one who had a DREAM... one who never wanted to be "well adjusted" to social injustice, war and allowing the rich to benefit on the backs of the common man. Listen to hear his plan for "Creative Maladjustment" and rediscover this great leader.

If you haven't heard of Cindy Sheehan, the mother of Casey Sheehan, who was killed during his service in Iraq in 2004, inspiring her to protest America's wars by camping outside George W. Bush's Crawford, TX compound for a month... well, now you have! Cindy's not stood still since - her cause is "peace and justice", so as you can imagine, a new troop surge in Afghanistan is not her idea of a sane manuver. What may surprise you is her lack of surprise that President Obama would do this. Take a listen!

Some of the resources that we talk-show hosts look to for reputabile information decided to circulate a story that sounded too good to be true - if you're a heterosexual male, at least! The story revolved around a new health study from Germany that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which detailed how men can live up to five years longer by staring at well-endowed womens' chests for at least ten minutes a day. It was said that this increased cardio-vascular activity and provided the equivilant of a thirty-minute workout to the viewer.
Was this story published in The Onion? No, this time it could be found on as reputable a source as themedguru.com - so it had to be real, right?
Ah, if only 'twere so.
The hoax story began its life in the Weekly World News, a tabloid of outragous proportions, back in early 2000, and had been circulating via email and the like since. Sadly, reputable folks have reported on it since then thanks to the error of including it on themedguru.com.

Omigod! There's proof, PROOF, I tell you, that climatologists (scientists who study the world's climate, i.e. weather) have been biasing the research put out about Global Warming! It's a hoax! A Hoax! Didn't you hear about those emails where those scientists said they wouldn't publish those studies that showed Global Warming was fake? And 2008 was the coolest year since 2000! It's a HOAX!
Aldous explores the above hysteria and discovers that the decade-old emails are between climatologists who didn't like a couple of studies that were submitted for publishing. In blowing off steam privately between themselves, they ranted about how they wouldn't publish them if they had to change the rules of submission for papers... and then you know what happened? They calmed down, and did their scientific duty, and published the studies anyway. As for 2008, it's still in the top ten warmest years since climate records began being kept in the 1850's. The temp goes up and down year after year, but the overall trend...

Barack Obama said he was going to send two battalions more troops into Afghanistan when he campaigned in 2008, so why are so many on the left upset? Maybe it's because he sent those battalions earlier this year already! What's going on now is an escalation that no one can be said they voted to support. On top of this, President Obama is heading to Norway to pick up his Nobel Peace Prize. Do we have two different people as President? Perhaps he's both a Dr. Heckle, who can take down his opponents for backing needless wars, and a Mr. Jive, who can talk us, those who voted for him, into NOT protesting what Dubya would have gotten blasted for.
